Aldi trialing on-demand rapid deliveries with Deliveroo from today
Aldi is trialling on-demand rapid deliveries from one of its Dublin stores from today.
The supermarket chain has partnered with Deliveroo for a trial period to provide an on-demand at-home delivery service for essential items including bread, milk, and eggs.
The service will be offered from Aldi East Wall in Dublin 3, before the trial is extended to Terenure in Dublin 6 on Wednesday, July 1.
Customers can order from 140 items on the Deliveroo app. These will be picked and packed by Aldi colleagues in-store, and delivered via a Deliveroo driver in under 30 minutes.
The rapid delivery service is expected to give greater flexibility to Aldi customers, as well as providing a vital service for older and vulnerable people. If successful, the service could roll out to further Aldi stores by the end of 2020.
“We hope the new trial with Deliveroo will provide more customers with access to great quality, affordable food at Aldi," said Niall O’Connor, group managing director for Aldi UK & Ireland.
“This is a new and exciting venture for Aldi and we will be constantly reviewing how we can best serve our customers and continue to provide them with the high quality products they are used to in store.”
Ajay Lakhwani, VP of New Business at Deliveroo, added: “At Deliveroo, we are doing everything we can to make sure that people get the food they need and want during this unprecedented time.
"We are pleased to partner with Aldi Ireland and deliver even more choice to our customers.”
The trial service begins in Aldi's East Wall store today.
