An American man is claiming to be the rightful King of England (and he’s serious)

Katie Mythen-Lynch

It’s not every day somebody challenges the breeding of a reigning monarch, but an American gentleman appears to have done just that; taking out a large ad in The Times for his purpose.

Mr Allan V. Evans of Colorado, who claims to be a direct descendant of the last King of Wales, took out the advertisement to give notice that he plans to “further pursue an injustice of history by claiming by right the Throne and Sovereign Crown of Great Britain at Westminster”.

Spotted by David Mapstone of Sky News, the sizable ad lays out Mr Evans’ claim in great detail:

Mr Evans has kindly said that he would not expect the reigning Queen of England to leave the throne, but will instead wait until her “sad future death”.

It’s not the first time somebody called Allan Evans has made a grand claim. In 2012, a Mr Evans from Colarado attempted to claim 400 acres of land in Twiggs county.

Maybe we shouldn’t write King Allan off just yet…
