An urgent appeal has been issued for Junior and Leaving Cert exam markers

They need people ASAP.

The State Examinations Commission (SEC) has issued an urgent appeal for teachers to mark exam papers for the upcoming Junior and Leaving Certificate.

For the Leaving Cert, markers are still needed or Business, English, French, German, Spanish, Geography and home Economics.

Meanwhile, for the Junior Cert, teachers are needed to mark papers for Home Economics, CSPE, Irish, German, Spanish, Geography, History, Maths, Science and Economics.

According to RTÉ, State Examinations Commissions CEO Aidan Farrell said: “We need the help and support of teachers and other qualified applicants and would actively encourage them to apply at this time. With the co-operation and active engagement of all those interested in the smooth operation of the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate examinations, we can ensure that the marking of this year’s examinations will proceed on target and to the necessarily-high standards.”

He also noted that payment for exam markers has taken a 2 percent increase from last year.
