Rebel Week organisers in Cork have been accused of being disrespectful after political leader Michael Collins’ gender was listed as “langer” in their official brochure.
The event, which is being described as a “week-long celebration of all things Cork” features Collins as a central figure in Rebel Week with one of the main events falling on his birthday.
Cork City Council reacted with fury last night after they were presented with the official brochure featuring the passport with the photo of Collins and “langer” under his gender.

Fine Gael councillors called for all 100,000 of the publications to be recalled and scrapped.
Fine Gael whip on the council Joe O’Callaghan, described the use of the Cork slang as "totally inappropriate, insulting, and disrespectful".
"I was lost for words, really," he said.
"While langer is a Cork slang word, it should not be used in this context to honour an international figure.
"There is a langer involved in this all right, but the langer is whoever signed off on this."
