Another weather warning

The weather is set to turn again.

In the wake of Storm Ophelia, another weather warning has been issued and it applies to the following counties.

The warning, which comes into effect at 12 am tonight, will remain in place all day tomorrow with all of Munster and Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow and Meath warned to be on high alert.

The status yellow warning predicts ‘heavy rain with accumulations between 30 and 50 mm possible’.

At the time of publishing Met Éireann’s forecast for tomorrow reads:

“Widespread rain for Thursday, heavy and thundery, with local flooding. Hill and coastal fog remains a problem with low cloud and mist. Temperatures 12 to 14 degrees. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds will become fresh to strong and gusty northwesterly, later in the day”.

Friday is set to start dry and calm but conditions will change throughout the day.

Although there is no storm warning in place as of yet, the weather is set to worsen significantly throughout the day and the national forecaster is monitoring the situation closely.

Here’s what to expect on Friday/Saturday morning:

“Strong gale force winds at sea and strong and gusty winds overland on Friday night. The strong winds will be accompanied by heavy rain, bringing a risk of local flooding. This is due to the track of a deepening Atlantic depression”.
