The TV host appeared in court this morning.

Ant McPartlin has been given a £86,000 (€100,000) fine and banned from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to drink-driving.

The TV host appeared before the Wimbledon Magistrates Court earlier today and pleaded guilty to driving while he was over the legal alcohol limit.

The court ordered him to pay a fine of £86,000, which works out as around 4.5 days wages for the presenter.

Ant was also banned from driving for 20 months, however, his legal representatives requested Ant complete a drink-driving course in order to reduce that ban to 15 months.

The court was told that Ant had 75mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath at the time of his arrest – twice the legal limit.

“I’m truly sorry for what happened,” Ant said in a brief statement after leaving court just moments ago. “I’ve let myself down and I’m truly sorry.

“I’d like to apologise to everyone involved in the crash and I’m just thankful that nobody was seriously hurt.”

Ant was found to be twice the legal limit when he crashed his car into two other vehicles in South London on March 21.

Ant has stepped away from all of his television roles since the accident in March, however, prerecorded episodes of Britain’s Got Talent that Ant featured in will air as planned.
