The infant was injured in a two-car collision on the R132 at Dowdallshill in Dundalk, Co. Louth.
The incident occurred at around 8.10 pm on December 6th, and the infant boy was rushed to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.
Gardaí confirmed the baby boy sadly passed away on December 11th at Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
The female driver of the first car, aged in her late 20s, was removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with non-life-threatening injuries.
The male driver of the second vehicle (aged in his early 50s) and the female passenger (a teenager) were removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R132 in the Dowdallshill area between 7:50pm and 8:20pm are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
