The body of a baby has been found on a footpath by a member of the public.
Officers were called to the scene off Edgeway Road in Marston, Oxford – where the Thames Valley Police received a report of a dead baby earlier this morning.
According to the
BBC, police have appealed for the mother to come forward, insisting she receive urgent medical attention.
Reports claim the baby was declared dead at the scene, while police are treating the death as unexplained.
Speaking about the incident, Detective Inspector Jim Holmes said:
"If you are the mother of the baby, please come forward so we can ensure any help needed can be provided."
Police have now closed off the area, with forensic teams examining the enclosure for evidence.
