Barack Obama’s latest tweet has become the second most liked on Twitter ever.

The former US president sent the tweet on Sunday, following reports that white nationalists were marching on Charlottesville.

The violent rally comprised of neo-Nazis, KKK members, and white supremacists led to the death of counter-protester Heather Heyer, who was run over by a car during the event.

She was 32-years-old.

President Donald Trump initially refused to denounce the actions of the white nationalists, stating that violence on “both sides” was unacceptable.

Obama, however, decided that he was not going to be so silent on the issue.

Taking to Twitter, the 44th POTUS shared a quote from Nelson Mandela’s Long Road To Freedom. He also included a photo of himself visiting some children at a day care in 2011.

The tweet thread reads:

“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin or his background or his religion.

People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

The first tweet has since received over 2.5 million likes and one million retweets, making it second most liked tweet on the website.

The top liked tweet on Twitter is Ariana Grande’s post following the terrorist attack in Manchester.

It read: “Broken. From the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don’t have words.”
