On Thursday, a snow ice warning was put in place for a load of counties.
With many of us waking up to conditions of minus 4C, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Leitrim, Cork, Limerick, and Tipperary in particular were told to be on alert.
Then early on Friday, Met Éireann issued a status orange warning – and it seems it’s going to be a pretty wild day throughout the country.

Enter forth Storm Dylan – he’s hurtling towards Ireland and will land on Saturday. Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford, Louth, Westmeath, and Meath will be the worst impacted.
Met Éireann stated: “Storm Dylan is expected to affect Ireland on Saturday night/early Sunday morning.
“Its expected track is northeastwards through Donegal Bay and up along the north-Ulster coast. The biggest impact from the storm will be across Connacht and Ulster where mean winds will reach speeds of 60 to 80 km/h with gusts of up to 120km/h.”
Earlier on Friday, a status yellow wind warning was also issued for south Wexford, Galway, north Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and south Waterford; it will remain in effect until 1pm.
Wind speeds of between 50 and 65km/h and gusts between 90 and 110km/h are also forecast in some places.

As well as strong winds, heavy or thundery showers are expected to spread from the west throughout the country on Friday morning, although they should ease and become more isolated by the afternoon.
