Bella Thorne has alleged that she was sexually and physically abused until she was 14.

The actress shared a social media post last night saying that she experienced sexual and physical abuse growing up until she “… had the courage to lock my door at night.”

Including the #TimesUp hashtag, she wrote:

“I was sexually abused and physically growing up from the day I can remember till I was 14.

“When I finally had the courage to lock my door at night and sit by it. All damn night. Waiting for someone to take advantage of my life again.

“Over and over I waited for it to stop and finally it did. But some of us aren’t as lucky to get out alive. Please today stand up for every soul Mistreated #timesup.”

Thorne shared the same image of Twitter with an alternative caption reading:

“I never knew what was right or wrong growing up… I didn’t know the person sneaking into my bedroom at night was a bad person.

This comes after the majority of those attending the Golden Globes last night wore black in solidarity with the #TimesUp movement

The campaign is aiming to raise money and support for sexual assault and harassment victims.

Last night, Oprah Winfrey gave an impassioned speech at the Globes stating that she hoped society was moving to a place where nobody “ever has to say ‘me too’ again.”

She said:

“I’m especially proud and inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories.

“Each of us in this room are celebrated because of the stories that we tell, and this year we became the story.”
