Heartwarming.

Betty White’s former co-star Vicki Lawrence has revealed her friend’s emotional last words.

White sadly passed away on 31 December, aged 99.

Lawrence has revealed that the last thing the iconic actress said was the name of her late husband, Allen.

Following the death, Lawrence told Page Six she had reached out to her friend Carol Burnett for support.

“I texted Carol and said, ‘This just sucks. I hate this. It’s just horrible to see the people you love so much go away,’” she said.

“Carol wrote back and said, ‘I know, I know. I spoke to Betty’s assistant, who was with her when she passed, and she said the very last word out of her mouth was ‘Allen.’”

“How sweet is that? I said, ‘That is so sweet. God, I hope that’s true. For all of us, I really hope it’s true, a lovely thought’.”

The Golden Girls star was married to Allen Ludden from 1963 to 1981, when he tragically died from stomach cancer at the age of 63. She never remarried.

In June 2012, White spoke to CBS News Sunday Morning about her decision not to marry again, saying: “When you’ve had the best, who needs the rest? It was special. It was very special.”

She then addded: “But that doesn’t keep you from having fun with somebody and going out and having dates!”

In an official statement, White’s agent Jeff Witjas said she had not feared death because she knew she would be with Allen again.

“Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever,” Witjas told People.

“I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much.

“I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden.

“She believed she would be with him again.”
