After a mild Christmas Day, the weather is set to change this week

Winter is finally coming.

Weather, what is going on with you right now?

While we did get a bit of a weather warning around certain parts of Ireland for Christmas Day, it was for heavy rain.

In fact, in the lead up the big day, the weather outside hasn’t been frightful at all, it was actually quite mild.

However, that is all about to change this week… but again, not for very long.

As per the folks at Met Éireann, this Wednesday 27 December will see the temperatures plummet to -3 overnight, so be sure to break out the old newspaper to cover your car’s windscreens before you head to bed.

Icy roads and freezing fog have also been mentioned, but like we said, by Thursday morning, it will be like none of it ever happened.

Some rain here and there, but generally the temperatures are expected to get back up to between 6 and 8 degrees, and by the time New Year’s Eve arrives, that is expected to climb up to 10 degrees.

Still though, we said this last year, and then January kicked our asses with an icy boot. So we’ll see how this pans out…
