A bodybuilder who gouged his girlfriend's eyes after she liked another man's Facebook post has been jailed.
Danny Bridges assaulted his girlfriend on two occasions last year. One of the attacks occurred after she had 'love reacted' to another man's Facebook post.
Bridges punched his partner in the faces and legs before strangling her and sticking his thumbs in her eyes.
He then took her to his Kent flat where he told her that she could not leave due to the visible injuries on her face.
She was pregnant at the time.
Bridges was sentenced to nine years in prison this week after a jury found him guilty of false imprisonment and two counts of assault at Canterbury Crown Court.
"I hope this sentence sends a strong message to perpetrators that violent crime will not be tolerated," said investigating officer, PC Morgan Fitzpatrick.
"Victims should never suffer in silence and we would always encourage anyone who is treated this way to come forward and report this to us."
