Drivers have been left with long delays this Sunday afternoon.
The M50 closed briefly earlier today to both northbound and southbound traffic after an incident took place on the motorway.
The two directions shut just at junction 12 Firhouse, but have since reopened.
According to reports, emergency services are dealing with an ongoing incident.
Motorists that are travelling southbound are being asked to make an exit at junction 11, Tallaght, while those driving northbound, are asked to turn off at junction 13, Dundrum.
Long delays are to be expected.
UPDATE: Both roads have been reopened.
