It is HUGE news...

People are overjoyed at the news…

Last night, the news broke that news that Brendan Dassey had had his conviction overturned for intentional homicide in relation to the death of Teresa Halbach.

Fans of Making a Murderer will recognise Brendan as the nephew of Steven Avery, who was charged with the murder of Halbach, mutilation of a corpse, and illegal possession of a firearm after Avery’s blood was found in her vehicle.

Avery’s defense team argued that the evidence was planted and that Avery was framed by the Manitowoc County Sheriffs Department in retaliation for a $36 million lawsuit that Avery initiated as the result of an earlier wrongful conviction. Depositions in the lawsuit had taken place at the end of September 2005.

Brendan Dassey, who was only 17 years old when convicted of aiding his uncle, had his conviction overturned last night. Court documents, released last night said Dassey should b “released from custody unless, within 90 days of the date of this decision, the State initiates proceedings to retry him”.

People took to Twitter to voice their support for Dassey, who is now 26 years of age.
