English comedian, writer and actor Rik Mayall has passed away at the age of 56. A spokesman for Brunskill Management confirmed that the actor passed away this morning.
Mayall was best known for his roles on the series Bottom, The Young Ones, Blackadder and The New Statesman.
The actor found fame playing would-be anarchist Rick in The Young Ones and also famously appeared in the film Drop Dead Fred. He also played Alistair Itchdaddy in RTÉ's Damo and Ivor.
The actor was working until recently despite the fact that he was seriously injured in a quad bike accident in 1998 which left him in a coma.
