This came after an unknown member of the Conservative Party said that "the Irish really should know their place" regarding current Brexit negotiations.
The unnamed politician is said to have also remarked: "We simply cannot allow the Irish to treat us like this."
Earlier today, Prime Minister May said that she was planning to contest the vote of no confidence brought against her leadership.
Speaking at Downing Street this morning, she said:
"A new leader wouldn't be in place by January 21 legal deadline, so a leadership election risks handing control of the Brexit negotiations to opposition MPs in Parliament. "A new leader wouldn't have time to re-negotiate a withdrawal agreement and get the legislation through Parliament by March 29, so one of their first acts would have to be extending or rescinding Article 50, delaying or even stopping Brexit when people want us to get on with it."Over 100 MPs have pledged to support May in tonight's vote.
