Burst main leaves people across north Dublin without water

Carl Kinsella

It’s going to be a dry day for some.

Suburbs across north Dublin have been left without water on Sunday following damage to a water main.

The outage is currently affecting homes in Drumcondra Road Upper, Fairview, Clontarf, Raheny, Whitehall, Artane, Cabra, Glasnevin and surrounding areas. Some houses are without water while others are experiencing very low water pressure.  The burst main itself is on the Drumcondra Road Upper.

Irish Water has confirmed that they are aware of the burst main and are working to fix it.

In a statement on the Irish Water website, the body has confirmed that “crews are working to restore the supply to the affected areas as soon as possible. There will also be a traffic management system in operation for the duration of these works.

In the mean time, customers are being urged to conserve water while the works are underway.

Irish Water have also said that they “don’t have a specific restoration time at the moment.”
