#Covid-19: Cadbury Ireland cancel annual Easter egg hunt and make €40,000 donation to Barnardos

Cathy Donohue

Cadbury Ireland has cancelled their annual Easter egg hunt.

The event was scheduled for April 10 and 11 but has been cancelled due to the escalation of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The decision has been made to protect employees and consumers who would have been involved in the event.

This year, the much-loved household brand had teamed up with Barnardos and due to the unforeseen cancellation, they have announced a donation of €40,000 to the children’s charity.

Cadbury has also encouraged anyone who would have bought tickets to the event, to instead make a donation to Barnardos.

Donations can be made via the official website here or you can text

The official statement reads:

“With the ongoing Covid-19 developments across the country, it is our top priority to protect the health and safety of our employees, partners and consumers, in line with the latest guidance from the Government. For that reason, we have decided to cancel this year’s Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt event. We recognise that this will be disappointing news for many families, but we consider it the right thing to do.

As a result of the cancellation and to mitigate any loss or disruption to our charity partner, Barnardos, and the essential services they provide, we are donating €40,000 to the charity, which is needed now, more than ever”.
