In south Dublin, one man's car was set alight as he was inside it in Dublin 4.
According to The Irish Times, at 11.15 pm near the Hume House office block in Ballsbridge, a 46-year-old was inside his car as it went on fire.
Believed to be working in Dublin, the man managed to escape the burning vehicle and emergency services arrived at the scene of the incident.
An Garda Síochána believe the German man was sleeping in his car for "a few days", a worrying notion coming up to Christmas but also a sign that the renting crisis in Dublin has escalated dangerously.
The man was brought to St. Vincent's Hospital for the treatment of his injuries, which are thought to be not life threatening. At the time of writing the man is receiving treatment for burns he sustained in the fire.
The Gardaí are currently investigating a case of criminal damage inflicted on the vehicle and are appealing for any witnesses.
