Child left in hospital after collision with a scooter and a car in Dublin

Gardaí are investigating the incident.

A child has been rushed to hospital after a scooter she was using came into collision with a vehicle.

The incident occurred in Walkinstown Avenue in Dublin at around 6pm on Wednesday, with the road being closed off not long after.

The young girl is believed to be only 12 years old, according to the Irish Mirror.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed to the publication that there had been a serious road traffic accident involving a female youth who was travelling on a scooter and has since been taken to hospital.

The girl is said to be alive and no other injuries resulted from the incident.

A spokesperson for the Gardaí told the Irish Mirror: “Gardai are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision on Walkinstown Avenue, Dublin 12 which occurred this evening, Wednesday December 1, 2021, shortly after 6pm.

“A female youth was taken to hospital following the incident. The scene is currently preserved while Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination.”

They added that “investigations are ongoing”.
