Christmas lights are already going up around Dublin city

It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

It’s officially that time of year, the Christmas lights are starting to be put up around Dublin city.

While they won’t be turned on until November, the lights are currently being installed across the city, with work beginning last night.

Clyde Carroll from business group Dublin Town has said that while it’s a month away from when they’ll be switched on, they need to start early as it’s a huge task.

“It’s going to take four crews working through the night, seven nights a week, to put 150 Christmas crossovers on 30 streets in this city,” Carroll said.

“It’s such a big task that we have to start early October, but don’t worry the lights aren’t being switched on until November.

“This year, more than ever, the Christmas period in the city centre is going to be so important.”

Dublin Town is the group in charge of lighting up the city every Christmas.

Dublin Town also tweeted, along with a video of the work kickstarting: “And so it begins. Here’s what it takes to put the #DublinTown Christmas lights up across #DublinCity.

“@weareDublinTown pay for and put up the lights to support City Centre business at an important time of year. And this year is more important than ever for recovery!”
