An apology just isn’t enough.
Clayton Hotel will terminate its contract with Newstalk.
The Dalata Hotel group announced the news last night on Twitter, stating that it cannot be associated with any media group that question victims of rape.
The tweets read: “@Dalatahotels cannot support any radio station that allowed inappropriate and hurtful comments to be made.
“We will be engaging with Newstalk as soon as possible to terminate our commercial relationship.”

On Friday’s High Noon programme, George insinuated that it is the victim’s fault for getting raped.
The newscaster said: “She has no idea of what dangers he might pose, but modern day social activity means that she goes back with him, then is SURPRISED when someone comes into the room and rapes her.
“But is there no blame now to the person who puts themselves in danger?”
Both George and Newstalk issued an apology on Saturday, but it seems that the damage has already been done.
I wish to apologise unreservedly for comments I made about rape on my radio programme on Newstalk yesterday

It was unacceptable to suggest in any way that blame could be attributed to victims of rape.

Too little, too late, George.
