Cold, wet and snowy: This week’s weather forecast doesn’t look good

Orlaith Condon

Ah here!

Over the past few days, the weather has made a welcome return to the double digits and we couldn’t be happier about it.

However, just as we all confidently proclaimed the bad weather is behind us, it’s set to return.

Yes, Met Éireann has broken the bad news, revealing that this week is on course to be just a miserable as those gone by.

Temperatures are set to drop from tonight to as low as 3 degrees in areas, however, the sky is predicted to remain clear.

But it’s going to be a miserable Monday, we’re afraid, as much of Leinster can expect a pretty wet and cold start to the week, with temperatures not expected to exceed 9 degrees.

Temperatures tomorrow night, however, could fall as low as -2 degrees in parts of the south and east.

It’s more rain and cold weather on Tuesday with forecasts predicting “gusty weatherly winds” and some hill snow in the northwest.

Similar to Tuesday, Wednesday will remain cold and windy with some showers throughout the day, with hail, sleet and some snowfall again predicted.

The weather picks up a little on Thursday as the winds calm and temperatures rise just a little, however, the weekend doesn’t seem quite so optimistic as we can expect a “changeable Atlantic regime”.

It’s a week for the raincoat and hat, we think!
