Cork Opera House Evacuated Following Bomb Threat

A planned concert at Cork Opera House was cancelled earlier tonight, amid fears that a bomb was placed on the premises. Dance act 2ManyDJs were due to perform at the popular venue at 10pm but the gig was abandoned after Anglesea Street Garda Station received a call claiming that there was a bomb in the theatre. The Evening Echo reports that the alarm was raised shortly after 7pm, with gardai rushing to the scene to carry out an extensive search. The building was closed to the public while gardaí used a specially trained sniffer dog in the operation but it is understood that the bomb scare was found to be a hoax.
