Coronation Street star ‘in self-isolation’ over coronavirus worries

Keeley Ryan

A Coronation Street star is in self-isolation due to coronavirus fears, according to reports.

The actor – who is said to not have any symptoms – was advised to stay at home for two weeks as a precautionary measure, after a holiday to an affected area.

“The cast member concerned took the decision to self isolate as a precaution,” a spokesperson told The Sun.

“They haven’t been in to work and they are showing no symptoms. There has been no disruption to filming.”

An insider told the publication that a small number of scenes had been affected, but no big storylines had to be changed.

“The actor spoke to health professionals after coming back home,” a source told The Mirror“They aren’t displaying any symptoms but were advised to self-isolate as a precautionary measure because of where they had been.

“We film six to eight weeks in advance so there has been room for manoeuvre. We’ve only had to write them out of a couple of scenes, while others can be shifted to the future.”

They said that it was “very much business as usual on the cobbles.”

116 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed  in the UK to date. 13 cases have been confirmed in Ireland at the time of writing.
