Couple arrested in Waterford on suspicion of terrorism

A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of terrorism in Waterford this morning.

The couple, believed to be in their 20s, are currently being questioned as part of an ongoing anti-terror investigation where Gardaí have been working closely with international security agencies.

According to The Irish Times, the man is Irish and from Waterford while the woman is believed to be British.

Mobile phones and computers are now being examined by technical experts after they were seized from the rented flat where the couple were arrested.

The pair, who have been detained at Waterford Garda Station, were arrested under the Criminal Justice Terrorist Offence Act 2005.
