Gardaí were called to intervene in an incident on a Dublin DART train today.

A fight broke out onboard the 12.55pm service from Bray to Howth, reports Dublin Live.

It’s thought to be related to a scam involving people aggressively selling packets of tissues onboard.

Reports suggest that the tissues were being sold for inflated prices.

Iarnród Éireann tweeted that the delay was due to ‘passenger trouble’.

The train was stopped at Shankill as Gardaí arrived on the scene.

Passengers had to wait for around 20 minutes before the incident was dealt with and the train got moving again.

It’s not the first time such a scam has been an issue on public transport in Dublin.

As far back as last April, Gardaí warned passengers about a scam whereby packets of tissues would be left on seats on the DART and other commuter trains.

Passengers told Gardaí that anyone who touched the packets was asked to pay for them and was subjected to threatening or intimidating behaviour, reports the Irish Times.

Irish Rail confirmed that five people had been arrested in connection with that scam.
