Kristin Marino has gone viral online after she honoured her late father on her wedding day.
Kristin, the daughter of a firefighter who lost his life on 9/11, shared an emotional and unexpected moment with her dad's colleagues on her wedding day.
Last week, Kristin Marina said yes to her partner Noah Schnacky during a beautiful ceremony in New York City.
Her father, Kenneth, died when he was just 40 years old while fighting the fire at the World Trade Centre. He left behind his wife Katrina, his daughter Kristin, who was just three at he time, and her brother Tyler, who was just one.
Kristin often honours her dad on her social media. She also shared on her Instagram that she would get married in NYC because it's 'his city and he will be right there' by her side on her wedding day.
However, Kristin was unaware of the heartwarming and thoughtful surprise she would receive moments before she walked down the aisle.
Outside her hotel lobby, she was met with a line of firefighters from her dad's firehouse, Rescue One, as well as two trucks.
Kristin welled up at the heartwarming sight, as the group of firefighters escorted her to the venue where she would walk down the aisle towards her husband-to-be.
She wrote in the video that she 'finally understands why they say it's a brotherhood,' adding: "I know my dad was smiling down knowing I was taken care of."
Kristin ends the clip with "Thank you for never forgetting FDNY (The New York City Fire Department)" and added in the caption: "I couldn’t hold it in…thank you for honouring my dad FDN."
Kristin also shared some photos of the special moment with her followers.
She captioned the post: "Yesterday I truly understood what it means when firefighters say 'it's a brotherhood.' Firefighters(new & retired) from my dad's firehouse, Rescue One, showed up to my hotel and escorted me all the way to our venue, where Noah was waiting at the altar. They stopped their lives to be a part of my special day to honour my dad.
"Walking out of the hotel to see all the firefighters with the 2 trucks instantly made me bawl my eyes out, it truly was symbolism of my dad walking me down the aisle & I know it’s exactly how he would have wanted it, this one is for you, dad."
She ended the caption with: "Thank you @fdny for being a part of my special day to honour my father."
In another Instagram post, a video shows Kristin's grandfather walking her down the aisle.
She captioned it: "He was there on my other arm."
