In what was like a scene out of a horror movie, over 100 killer spiders were found in a house in County Carlow.
According to the
Irish Mirror, the house was abandoned but it is believed that the former owner bought these creepy crawlies online to keep them as pets.
The disturbing collection was discovered by members of the public who called in the local animal refuge.
"We received a call from Carlow about a gentleman who had vacated a house and left over 100 spiders behind," Kevin Cunningham, manager at the National Exotic Animal Sanctuary (NEAS), told the newspaper.
A number of different types of creatures were found crawling around the house including funnel-web spiders, black widows, deadly tarantulas and scorpions.

"We had to go in with an expert, catalogue all the species and have the potentially lethal ones like the black widow and funnel-web spiders - which can kill you – destroyed," Mr. Cunningham continued.
"The man had bought the spiders over the internet and had them delivered to him and this is a growing problem that we are seeing here. The government needs to look at this problem now as more and more exotic animals become available for sale on the net."
