DIY guru the Gaff Goddess has added a second Dublin event!

Leslie Ann Horgan

Her and ‘Gaff Goddess’ Laura de Barra have added a second live event on February 6.

As a renter of ten years and now a homeowner, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a lengthy to-do list of repairs and upgrades that need doing about the house. Hang that curtain rail, fix that dripping tap, add those floating shelves… I need a crash course in DIY before I can even think about getting it all sorted – and it seems I’m not the only one.

The answer to all of our repair and home-care queries comes in the form of the ‘Gaff Goddess’ Laura de Barra.

The Cork woman is a property portfolio developer and illustrator who works in the London rental market. Building on from the home hacks that she shares on her Instagram account, she’s written a guidebook to repair, décor and ‘She-IY’. It’s funny and straight-talking – and perhaps the most useful book you’ll ever buy.

Laura’s first ever live event was announced this week and sold out within just a few hours. Now, due to demand, she has added a second live event, taking place at Smock Alley Theatre on February 6. On the night, the Gaff Goddess will be joined by Her‘s Niamh Maher to talk about about all things related to looking after your home.

From dripping taps to rewiring plugs, Laura will share her tips and tricks for home repairs and maintenance, as well as how to run an eco-friendly home.

Of course, having a home that works is about more than just fixing emergencies, and so Laura will also be providing advice on topics like zoning your spaces, clever storage and choosing the right decor.

Tickets for the event cost €10, and are available to purchase here. There will be an opportunity to buy a copy of Gaff Goddess on the night, and Laura will also be signing copies of the book.
