The first double welfare payment will be paid next week

Kat O'Connor

Minister Humphreys confirmed payment dates today.

The first double welfare payment will be issued next week.

The new payment was revealed in last month’s budget.

The Cabinet has confirmed the payment will be made on October 17th. Payments will also be made throughout November.

€1.2 billion has been allocated to help support the public during the cost of living crisis.

Minister Heather Humphreys also confirmed parents will be given the double child benefit payment on November 1st.

639,000 families are set to benefit from the double child benefit payment.

Parents have praised the scheme, but believe more needs to be done to help families cope with the ongoing cost of living crisis.

However, many families, who are not entitled to welfare payments, slated the Government because middle-income families are being left behind.

There will also be increases made to the disability support grant in November.

132,000 people on the carer support grant will also receive a €500 lump sum.
