A brand new, six-part documentary airing on TV3 shows a different side to Ireland’s capital city.

Featuring two of the most prominent specialists in the field of investigating contract killings, the documentary series Assassins is sure to be one of those programmes that absolutely everybody will be talking about the next day.

According to those involved, a staggering 5% of all homicides that happen in Ireland are part of a contract killing.

The series is set to be co-presented by investigative journalist Donal MacIntyre and leading criminologist Professor David Wilson, as they reveal the anatomy of six infamous contract killings in Ireland, profiling the assassins and their crimes in forensic detail.

Donal and David will interview a number of leading professional police experts, including Garda, Scotland Yard and FBI detectives, ex-homicide, DNA & ballistic specialists. They will also interview family, friends and associates of criminals as well as victim families.

High profile examples such as the gunning down of notorious gangland kingpin Eamon “The Don” Dunne in 2010 to Ireland’s first teenage hitman Gary Campion will be uncovered in the series.

Assassins will premiere on TV3 from Wednesday 3 May at 9pm.
