A taxi driver based in Dublin’s city centre has been arrested after a female passenger claimed he raped her in the back of his vehicle.
According to the Irish Mirror the woman, 32, got into the cab on Camden Street after visiting a nearby takeaway following a night out with friends on September 19th last.
Reports suggest the woman awoke in the back of the cab to find the driver having sexual intercourse with her. When she realised what was happening, she begged him to stop. The alleged victim contacted authorities immediately after the driver brought her home and was taken to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit at the Rotunda. Here, it was confirmed that sexual activity had taken place.
The driver was arrested following a large scale manhunt. The car has been confiscated for examination purposes and the investigation is still ongoing.
Gardai launched a huge manhunt for the driver, who was subsequently arrested. Cops then confiscated his car for examination.
