Gardaí in Ballymun are investigating the hijacking of a taxi which took place shortly after 2.30am this morning.
It is reported that two men were being driven from O’Connell Street to Ballymun. However, when the taxi came in to Ballymun, the rear-seat passenger allegedly threatened the driver with a knife and ordered him out of the vehicle.
The taxi driver contacted the Gardaí who located the taxi on the Old Airport Road near to Ballymun.
A small amount of cash was also stolen during the incident. Two men were arrested in connection with the incident and are currently being held at Mountjoy Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The taxi driver was not injured during the incident.
