Dubliners warned over door-to-door scammers

Sarah McKenna Barry

There have been reports of fraudsters knocking on doors in the Liffey Valley area.

Residents of south Dublin have been urged to be vigilant as a door-to-door scam is currently in operation.

As Dublin Live reports, the scam involves people going door-to-door in the Quarryvale area, near Liffey Valley, telling residents that they are fundraising for a 5km run in aid of the Quarryvale Community and Youth Centre.

The Quarryvale Community and Youth Centre however have said that no such fundraiser is taking place, and they advised homeowners to be aware of the fraudsters, and know that they do not represent the centre.

In a post on social media, the Quarryvale Community and Youth Centre addressed the door-to-door scam.

They wrote: “It has come to our attention that people were going door-to-door last night claiming to be fundraising for the centre by doing a 5km run.

“This information is false, we do not do door-to-door fundraising. If someone knocks on your door making these claims, please be aware they in no way represent the Centre.”
