Major Irish retailer Dunnes Stores is set to close three of its supermarkets by the end of this month, with the first one to close today.
The first shop to close (Friday, October 24) is the Cornelscourt Village in south Dublin branch.
However sad it is to see a store shut its doors for the final time, the small outlet is located just minutes from the larger Dunnes supermarket in Cournelscourt Shopping Centre.
However, two further Dunnes Stores outlets are set to close on the 31st of October, including the one located on West Street in Drogheda, Co. Louth, which makes up one of the retailer's earliest outlets.
Staff at the Drogheda branch were only informed of the closure last week.
Fortunately, the majority of the employees are set to be redeployed to nearby locations at the town's Scotch Hall and Colpe Cross shopping centres.
The last of the Dunnes Stores to close by Halloween is located in the Ilac Centre (48-50 Henry St) in Dublin's city centre.
The news comes after Dunnes Stores announced they were forced to recall a popular children's product amid safety fears.
According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCP), over 4,110 unsafe baby mittens have been recalled from Dunnes Stores since last week.
The recall involved 2 Pack Baby Boys and Girls Mittens, which safety bosses have warned risk "injuries".
Specifically, Irish parents should be aware that long threads from the mittens could wrap around the baby's finger, which could cause swelling and a lack of function.
The CCP said: "Dunnes Stores Unlimited Company is carrying out a recall of 2-Pack Baby Boys and Girls Mittens.
"The risk presented by the product is injuries.
"While wearing the product, long threads from the product may wrap around the baby’s finger, causing swelling and a lack of function."
It is believed there are about 4,110 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
Parents have been warned to stop using the product and keep it out of reach of children.
Shoppers are now able to return the product to a Dunnes store for a full refund.
