Eight food based businesses received closure orders from the Food Safety Authority Ireland (FSAI) last month.

The restaurants, takeaways, and cafés were ordered to close due to breaches of food safety legislation during the month of June.

The businesses served with closure orders were in Dublin, Wexford, Laois, and Mayo.

A food closure order is served where it is deemed that there is, or is likely to be, a grave and immediate danger to public health at or in the premises.

Many of these orders have since been lifted.

The closure orders served under the FSAI Act, 1998 applied to:

  • Sal’s – Main Street, Borris-in-Ossory, Laois (Order issued: June 22, lifted: June 25)

  • Little Italy, 3 Irish Street, Bunclody, Wexford (Order issued: June 11, lifted: June 15)

The closure orders served under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations 2010 applied to:

  • Just Baked (Closed area: The unregistered storeroom adjacent to the bakery), Barcastle Industrial Estate, Springfield Road, Castlebar (Order issued: June 15)
