Tragedy today as an elderly woman died after being hit by a truck in Bantry, Co. Cork.
The pedestrian, in her early seventies, was struck in Wolfe Tone Square, Bantry at around midday today, according to The Independent.
Gardaí have said that the woman died at the scene and her body was taken to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem will take place.
The road has been closed and diversions are in place while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are undergoing a technical and forensic examination of the scene.
