Critically endangered sea turtle found dead as a result of littering

This is not okay.

We are becoming far more aware of our planet in recent years.

Thanks to shows like Planet Earth, and countless viral stories online – we see everything.

And this morning, I cam across a viral story that really upset me.

A critically endangered sea turtle washed up dead on a beach in Alabama this week.

The cause of death? The turtle was choked when it got tangled up in a beach chair.

A beach chair, that had been chucked into the ocean without a second thought.

A local conservation group shared (graphic enough) images of the poor turtle on Facebook.

Fort Morgan Share the Beach stated the following:

“This Kemps Ridley which is on the endangered list was found this morning with this chair around it’s neck.”

“This makes me so mad. How many hundreds of times do we have to ask people to pick their stuff up? It should just be common decency. I think I am going to print this out and carry it with me next time I have to ask.”

This is such a heartbreaking story.
