An Ebola cuddly toy has sold out this week despite the fact that the virus has become a massive health scare in the past few weeks. The soft toy has proven to be an enormous hit for toy company Giant Microbes who have revealed that they are now sold out of the worm-like toy online. They believe that the toy, which has been on sale for many years, has been bought by students who are trying to study the virus. “With Ebola and everything that is going on, people are interested about learning more and this product provides a way for people to learn about it," said Laura Sullivan. "Sales are exceptionally high now because so many more people want to learn about it. People are buying it to talk about it and if we ever felt it was being used inappropriately, we would reconsider it." “We’ve been running the Ebola toy for years, but now everyone’s after one,” Carol Allam, Account manager, told the BBC.“We’ve sold thousands over the last couple of months. They are all gone. It’s because it’s so lifelike. If you look under a microscope you’ll see the shape is just like the toy.” Although the toy is sold out, people can add it to their wish list on the site and it will be delivered to them when new stock comes in.
