The picture caused instant backlash online, with Hooters releasing a statement to address the criticism from users:
"Today, our Facebook page was hacked and all admin rights were suspended. We apologize for the unauthorized posts made and are distressed by the insensitive material that was posted out of our control. Hooters does not share these opinions.
“As of 7 p.m. EST, we have regained admin rights to our page and are working closely with Facebook to investigate the matter."
The post has since been deleted and the social media team are now investigating how their page was hacked.
Visitors to the page have called for the immediate dismissal of any staff member who may have been involved with the original posting of the crude image and caption.Explore more on these topics:
