A light and subtle golden glow is something almost every Irish woman would love to be blessed with. Sadly, our complexion just doesn’t work like that… and so the great Irish love affair with fake tan lives on.
Formulas have come on in leaps and bounds since those early days when we all looked tangoed… admit it, you did. So, in our brand new feature we’ll be looking at different fake tan ranges every week and bringing you top tips on nailing that healthy glow.

Cocoa Brown One Hour Tanning Mousse (€7.99) and Cocoa Brown Day and Night Tanning Mousse (€7.99)
Cosmetics guru and entrepreneur Marissa Carter's new beauty brainchild ticks all the right boxes.
Cocoa Brown fake tan is budget-friendly (a big plus), suits different skin tones (kudos from us freckled folk) and has a natural finish.
Carter's aim was to "rock the Irish tanning market" with her innovative new product and she has done just that.
Cocoa Brown's first dip into the tanning market included Cocoa Brown One Hour Tan Mousse (retails at €7.99 in pharmacies and Penneys stores nationwide), a tan guaranteed to develop just one hour after application. The resulting look is natural, something us pale-skinned Irish girls sometimes lose sight of.
A major thumbs-up is the fact that the tan does not leave the "biscuit smell" associated with traditional fake tan on your skin. This is a result of the natural extracts of Tahitian Gardinia included in the formula.

For us at Her.ie, it was Carter's newest product Cocoa Brown Day and Night Tan (retails at €7.99 in pharmacies and Penneys stores nationwide) to be put to the tanning test.
The self-tan mousse glides over your skin with application. Although a trial run taught us to be cautious squeezing out the mousse onto your glove (we were a little bit too excited at the beginning) and a small squirt motion should really provide enough mousse for your whole arm.
Massage the tan onto your skin to make sure it is well and truly even. The fragrance is sweet without being sickly and it was well-appreciated to put on tan after a shower and not feel like we needed to hop back in for a wash straightaway.
The tan was applied to both freckled and pale skin and looked natural on both. Cocoa Brown Day and Night can be applied in layers to make it as dark or as light as you wish.
Finally, is the whole "Looks light in the day, dark at night" selling point a myth? Nope, it does do exactly what it says on the tin!
