Father and son injured in helicopter crash are named

Investigations are continuing this morning into the helicopter crash in Co Louth yesterday evening.

Donnie Marron was piloting the helicopter and his son Dustin was also on board. The incident happened at around 5:15 pm when the three-seater light helicopter crashed into a group of trees in a garden in Carlingford.

Emergency services including the fire brigade, Doonore Coastguard Unit, and an ambulance crew attended the crash.

Donnie Marron was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, while his son Dustin was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The scene was sealed off overnight and the examinations will resume this morning,  later today the helicopter will be transported for further examination to an air accident investigation unit facility in Gormanstown, Co Meath.
