Female pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by Luas

Luas Red Line services are running with “significant delays” due to the collision.

A female pedestrian in her 40s was seriously injured after being hit by a Luas on Thursday (28 October).

Gardaí attended the scene at Steeven’s Lane at around 2.15pm following reports of the collision.

The woman was removed from the scene by ambulance to St James’s Hospital.

A Garda spokesperson said her condition is understood to be serious.

The road was closed to facilitate a technical examination of the scene and has since fully reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

In a statement on Twitter, Luas advised customers that its Red Line services are running with “significant delays” due to the collision.

“Luas tickets are still valid on Dublin Bus. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” it said.
