“Figi Water Girl” is suing Figi Water.

It has been reported that Kelleth Cuthbert who shot to “meme fame” as “Figi Water Girl” during the 2019 Golden Globes is now suing Figi Water for unauthorised use of her image in a campaign for the brand.

Kelleth took her chance at stardom during the awards ceremony in early January by photobombing all the stars on the red carpet while handing out Fiji Water.

But her viral success is causing the promotional worker problems as she’s now pressing legal action against Fiji Water for “the unauthorized use of [Fiji Water Girl’s] photograph, likeness, and identity”, reports E!

Cardboard cutouts of Kelleth from the awards show appeared across the US which Kelleth states was “without autorisation”. The 31-year-old is claiming that she never agreed to be the face of a global brand campaign and is now looking for justice.

However, Fiji Water begs to differ and they’re not here to give any sympathy. In a statement to E! News, the brand said the following:”

“This lawsuit is frivolous and entirely without merit. After the Golden Globes social media moment, we negotiated a generous agreement with Ms. Cuthbert that she blatantly violated. We are confident that we will prevail in Court. Throughout our history, we have had a sterling reputation working with talent.”
