Finally! We’re in for some gorgeous weather coming into the long weekend

There is a God.

Anna O'Rourke

Has it been the coldest spring on record?

Probably not.

Have we stopped whinging about how chilly it is since around last September?

Also no.

We have been dying for some warmth on our bones and it looks like Met Éireann is finally coming through for us with some good news.

It’s predicting that we’ll get some very nice days with sun and temperatures of up to 20 degrees. Yay!

“For the rest of the coming week, apart from a few light showers, it looks like it will be mainly dry with sunny spells,” the forecaster said.

“Winds will remain moderate East or Southeast and it will gradually become a degree or so milder day by day, so with temperatures on good Friday afternoon expected to range from 15C along exposed coasts to as high as 18 to 20 degrees elsewhere.

“Night-time temperatures will be around 5 to 8 degrees.”

It’s a far cry from the multiple weather warnings that have been issued this weekend.

A Status Orange rainfall warning has been issued for Cork and Waterford. It’ll be in place from 6pm this evening for 24 hours.

There’s also a Status Yellow rainfall in place for Kilkenny, Wexford, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary which is valid during the same period. There’s a risk of flooding in the southern areas of these counties.

Meanwhile, there’s a Status Yellow wind warning in place for Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Cork, Kerry, Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.

These warnings are valid from 2am on Monday morning and will expire on Monday evening.
