Finally! The weather forecast we’ve been waiting for all week

*Puts on shades*

It was a tough week.

If the first week back after Christmas wasn’t bad enough, we had storms, wind and flooding to contend with.

It made for a damp and dreary first week of January, however, we’re finally going to see the change in the weather we’ve all been waiting for this weekend.

Met Éireann believes that we’re going to get a birra sunshine today, and temperatures are rising also.

“Today will be mostly dry with good sunny spells developing and just isolated showers over the southeast.

“A cold and blustery day top temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in fresh northeasterly winds but strong along eastern coasts.”

At least it’s a little warmer than 0 degrees, right?

However tonight, the temperatures will plummet, and may even drop down to -5.

“Tonight will be dry with good clear spells and northeasterly winds will ease. It will turn very cold with lowest temperatures falling to between -2 and -5 degrees with a widespread severe frost but along eastern coastal fringes temperatures will not be as cold and stay slightly above freezing in the onshore northeasterly breeze.

“Some mist or fog patches may develop towards morning.”

Well, not great, but it’s not all bad.
