Five-Year-Old Boy Dies Following Collision In Laois
An investigation has been launched by Gardaí after a five-year-old was killed in a two-car crash last night.
The child, who has not yet been named, was a passenger in a car with his mother and seven-year-old brother when it collided with another car on the Portlaoise Road outside Portarlington shortly after 8.30pm. The boy was rushed to hospital for treatment for his injuries but was later pronounced dead, while his mother and brother are receiving ongoing treatment.
The driver of the second car is understood to have been arrested following the accident but was released without charge. An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone who may have witnessed the tragic collision is asked to come forward.
